Like me, you probably bought into one or several of the many myths propagated throughout our culture about how debt is fine today. After all, our US government is awash in it. Get more credit cards. Buy it now. Spend your "economic stimulus" check today. Buy now.....pay later. Print more money! OOPS. We can't do that. Only our government can crank up the printing presses. :-(
Sadly today, many are paying a huge price for following the herd mentality and becoming awash in debt. Look at the headlines in the paper almost every day. Good people losing their homes, businesses going down the tubes, and added stress beyond belief to try and keep all of the plates spinning.
YOU do NOT have to live this way! That's right. You heard me. You do not have to live like that. There is another way....and it's better.
A few years ago, we sold the big house and paid off ALL our debts. My wife and I owe no man anything! We're not trying to keep up with the Joneses either. It's a different and very freeing mindset. For example, I used to buy a new car every few years primarily because I had bought into the notion that everyone who is going to be anybody is supposed to do that. What a crock! Today, I'm driving a 10 year old Lincoln Navigator with over 130,000 miles. It runs great. I loved it when I bought it and I still do. I'm hoping to get 200,000 or more miles out of it. I don't have a car payment...haven't had one in a long time.....don't plan to get one.....EVER!
